Messages by Behavior

All banners, signs, and posters display a message designed to address one of Marin County’s top five problem behaviors. The messages are placed according to the behavior targeted at each specific location.

The Street Smarts Marin messages address the top five problem behaviors as follows:

Outdoor Media Campaign

Since Street Smarts addresses traffic problems at their source – in the minds of drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists – the centerpiece of the program is an educational campaign delivered via outdoor advertising using banners and signs.

Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM) works closely with the participating Marin County jurisdictions to identify the top “hot spots” for traffic behavior problems in their jurisdictions. Banners and signs from the outdoor media campaign are then installed at these “hot spots.”

The Outdoor Media Campaign employs the following media:

  • Street pole banners
  • Building and fence banners
  • Cross-street banners

  • Posted signs
  • Lawn signs

Bus Back Signs

  • Bus back ads on Golden Gate Transit buses

  • Safety Posters
